Easter Weekend Racing Round Up
07 April 2026
Good Friday Relays - Newburn
The ever popular Good Friday Relays was the first event for the weekend. The club took 5 women's and 3 men's team to Newburn Business Park the flat 2 mile course ensured fast times and equally as great risk to blowing up from a start too fast.
in the mass of relays that the club have been to in the past few weeks only 3 of the club managed to do all 3 (Mandy, Carol and Joanna) with Zarah doing 2 relays and racing at the english schools the same time as signal relays.
Women's Race
The first race was the women's relay consisting of teams of 3 on the 2 mile course. the majority of the club run faster times than the previous year. the under 20's team that competed at the national cross country lead the club off all knocking minutes of their times from last year. and going toe to toe with the best teams in the North East being as high as 4th place after 2 legs. finishing 20th team overall and 1st under 20 team by a metaphorical potato field. An excellent achievement for such a young team. the weeks of racing had caught up in some of the legs but still put in very commendable legs. the Vet 50's team stormed through for 8th position.
Men's Race
The mens race almost mirrored exactly the same as the women's race. The men's race differed with teams of 4 however still with 2 legs The first team finished in 20th like the women's team the vet 50 team finished 7th. The Men's A team positioned a very steady 20th throughout with no major swings. The Weather held up well in the end making it a great day
